Learn More About Lawn Equipment Safety
Mowing the lawn is often one of the first chores for many youth that involve using gas-powered equipment. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, every year in the U.S., more than 9,000 children go to the emergency department for lawn mower-related injuries. Mowing the lawn correctly and safely requires some training. Instilling practices like removing objects from the yard before mowing, keeping guards and other safety features in place, and properly using personal protective equipment (PPE), can help protect age-appropriate children from the danger of cuts, burns, and broken bones.
